803: High Angle Rescue
803.1 High Angle Rescue introduction
A ‘’ High Angle Rescue ‘’ usually occurs when the victim is trapped on a slope or on a place that has a high drop or a very high slope angle.
803.2 Walkthrough
During a High Angle Rescue, you would have the following Apparatus Truck or Tiller, Engine and US&R on scene. If the person is trapped on the side of a building and it is reachable via the truck or tiller, the best way to bring the person down is with the ladder, if they are trapped on the building and they are not reachable via ladder truck, you would need to grab the following equipment: harness, rope bags, halligans (for possible entry in a room with access to a window), litter baskets, litter basket tripods etc. After you got all of the equipment, you will head aprox one or two stories higher than the place where the victim is trapped. One or two firefighters would then harness up and would get a winch point somewhere in the room, while at least 2 others make sure the operation is going smoothly in the room.
