1104 - Deputy Fire Chief

There are a maximum of 2 Deputy Fire Chiefs which manage and control the overall activities of the department. They are considered a part of Department Command Staff. Deputy Fire Chief is a position that is appointed by the Fire Chief. 

Responsibilities include:

• Responding to extreme emergencies as dispatched and assuming command on the scene.

• Implementation of Department programs and policies.

• Ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.

• Evaluating the status and readiness of the department.

• Acting in the position of Chief Fire Marshal to enforce the Fire Code.

• Supervising the activities of the Divisions.

• Act as a sitting member of Professional Standards Internal Investigations Unit.

• Creating new policies for the department.

• Investigate reports against department supervisors.

• Investigate incidents involving department supervisors where injury, death, or property damage has occurred.

• Administer supervisor conduct.

• Liaison with command teams from other public services.

Staff capabilities:

• Issue warnings.

• Issue suspensions.

• Fire individual characters.

• Issue warnings to Department Supervisors.

• Issue suspensions to Department Supervisors.

• Fire individual supervisor characters.

• Update department personnel conduct portfolio.
